Qualia
Textures which overflow into feeling; this is called qualia.
Gently sinking both hands into a washbasin filled with cold water.
Walking through the night, the smell of rain.
The touch of a dog's ear.
Finding the small sprout of a plant.
Eyes closed, gazing into the darkness until falling asleep.
Slowly letting go of my body, catching a soft and moist feeling as I move into that expanding infinite. At that moment everything falls lightly, bringing the disconnect back to its center. Simultaneously, I cry softly over the unexpected and sudden reunion with memories that have been repressed from my day-to-day life.
We recognize graceful, delicate and visceral feelings in even the slightest spaces; feelings which cannot be put into any sort of words. Yet, many people feel as if it is an unnecessary awareness and continue to walk through life, shifted away from their centers. These feelings were re-experienced during the creation of my works and it is my hope that each person seeing these works may connect with his or her own qualia.
