NAOMI SHIGETA

sensory memory

A moment where the memories of the senses are awakened during an everyday action.

The smell of rain, basking in the sun, the sound of the city, the taste of a rice ball, the warm glow from an oil heater, a voice on a telephone, the tactile sensation of snow.

Memories, accumulating over time, change into nostalgia. In unsuspecting moments, such memories are revived with vividness, deep from within the subconscious.
I would like these works to share a chance for the viewers to find connections with their own sensory memories.
